According to a recent survey, it is also one of the least trusted.
A Harris Poll of 1,001 adults conducted from November 19th through November 21st in English, Spanish, and German found that 34% of Americans believe CNN is “about as trustworthy as the average news source.”
That’s nearly twice as many as the “25%” who feel the same about Fox News.
A full 78% said they either “strongly believe” or “somewhat believe” that CNN is “not as trustworthy as the average news source.”
Only one in ten said the same about Fox News.
“This is something we’ve been seeing on the left. They have felt the pressure from the Democrats and the left to be very antagonistic, and it’s a strategy that’s been working,” Prager University Senior Research Analyst, Gary Schmitt said.
“However, if you want to be a mass media source, it doesn’t work anymore. You can’t make a fortune for yourself anymore from antagonism. And if it works, it works for the president.”
Indeed, President Donald Trump’s approval ratings have been through the roof for nearly a year.
But the poll shows that trust in the press has plummeted, thanks in part to the Russia investigation.
About three-quarters of Republicans said they don’t trust the press.
That number is up from 65% in June.
